A Zombie Vacation Rental™ is an uncompetitive vacation rental business that lacks personality, quirks, and zest for the business. ZVRs (hey! that's a good new listing site!) are unable to stand on their own two feet. They may look normal from afar. But up close, they have no soul: they deliver generic and unremarkable experiences. ZVRs can be dangerous because they hollow out the essence of our cottage industry one guest stay at a time (aka. vacation rental apocalypse).
ACTION
Do a full Zombie Audit™ of your team and your property(s).
People: If you sense that you yourself are turning zombie, stop everything and revert back to your origin story: why you got started, what makes you special, what makes your property(s) unique. Inject all of these things back into your marketing and operations: make them all top priorities again (or risk becoming undead). If a beloved employee is turning zombie and blankly going through the motions, find them tasks that they are naturally good at, activities that play to their passions and strengths, or an outlet to express their personality.
